Treatment Types & Therapies
Dr. Schuver is trained and experienced in a wide range of chiropractic treatments and therapies designed to relieve common pain.
Here are some of the treatment methods Dr. Schuver uses. He is always happy to explain what each therapy does and why he recommends it based on your individual needs.

Diversified Technique
The Diversified technique is a common chiropractic method that uses high-velocity, low-amplitude manual thrusts to adjust the spine and other joints. It aims to correct misalignments, or subluxations, to restore proper joint and spinal function, often resulting in an audible pop as gas is released from the joint. The technique is highly specific and is tailored to individual needs, incorporating a variety of adjustment and mobilization methods from other techniques as well.

The Logan Basic
The Logan Basic technique is a gentle, low-force chiropractic adjustment developed by Dr. Hugh B. Logan that uses light pressure on the sacrum to correct spinal and pelvic distortions. The technique involves placing a sustained light pressure on the sacral apex while the other hand corrects spinal segments, aiming to release tension in the muscles surrounding the spine and allow it to return to its balanced state. It is considered suitable for all ages, including infants and pregnant women, and is known for being quick and effective.

Sacro-Occipital Technique
Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) is a specialized chiropractic method that focuses on the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (back of the skull) to balance the body and support the nervous system. It uses gentle, low-force adjustments and wedge-shaped pelvic blocks to realign the spine, relieve tension, and promote healing. SOT is used to treat conditions like sciatica, headaches, and TMJ pain, and is considered a gentle and safe option, even during pregnancy.

Flexion Distraction
Flexion distraction is a gentle chiropractic technique that uses a specialized table to decompress and stretch the spine, relieving pressure on spinal discs and nerves. The patient lies on the table while the chiropractor applies rhythmic, controlled traction to the spine, which increases spinal mobility and nutrient flow to the discs. This method is often used for conditions like herniated or bulging discs, sciatica, and chronic low back pain, and is known for being relaxing and gentle.

Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a chiropractic technique that uses manual muscle testing to diagnose and treat structural, chemical, and mental/emotional imbalances. A practitioner evaluates a patient's muscle strength in response to different stimuli to identify stress points or weaknesses, which can then be treated with various methods like chiropractic adjustments, joint mobilization, or nutritional advice. AK is often used to find the root cause of functional issues that may not be apparent in standard exams.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial release in chiropractic care involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to connective tissue to release restrictions that cause pain and limit movement. Techniques include using hands, elbows, or specialized tools to apply pressure and stretch tight fascia, which can then be combined with spinal adjustments for better results. This holistic approach can improve mobility, posture, and overall alignment by addressing both the soft tissue and skeletal structure.

IEMS Therapy
Interferential electrical muscle stimulation (IEMS) is a type of electrical stimulation therapy that uses two medium-frequency currents to create a low-frequency current in the tissues, promoting pain relief, increasing blood circulation, and helping to heal soft tissues. It works by combining two different currents that interfere with each other where they intersect, creating a therapeutic current at the point of interference, making it more comfortable for patients than low-frequency stimulation and more effective at reaching deeper tissues. IEMS is used for conditions like ligament sprains, muscle strains, sports injuries, and tendinitis.

Intersegmental Traction
Intersegmental traction therapy is a chiropractic treatment that uses a specialized table with rollers to gently stretch and massage the spine, aiming to improve mobility, relieve pain, and increase circulation. It is often used with other treatments like spinal adjustments, and can help with conditions such as lower back pain, sciatica, and a sore neck. However, people with osteoporosis, pregnant women, and those with joint instability should avoid this therapy
